Petit Grain Neutral Brandy
Sometimes when Arthur gets an idea into his head, it isn't until the product is done that everyone else sees what he was going for. When he approached Tim about the Petit Grain, Tim was unsure of the reasons but went with it and produced our newest Table Spirit. "I was guessing this was some sort of 'small grain" plant from the name and we were going to be producing a grape spirit that tasted like a grain vodka..." Tim, Head Distiller. "When we mixed up our first batch, the aroma off the tank was tremendous. It was nothing like I had expected and I couldn't wait to taste it in a cocktail." The Petit Grain is an essence, extracted from the leaves and green twigs of the same type of orange trees we use in other products. The final product is very similar to a gin, but without the juniper background. The name itself comes from the Bitter Orange Tree whose fruits are small, about the size of cherries. Hence the name, "little grains". There are lots of Petit Grains out there, made from Mandarin and Lemon trees, and commonly are used in Perfumes and colognes. This, however, is perfect for cocktails.
